www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/sports/story.html?id=73040910-2d19-428d-9d55-030d6de1600fPublished: Monday, October 13, 2008 MacIntyre to get first taste of NHL action Steve MacIntyre, who'll likely play his first NHL game for the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday in Anaheim against the Ducks after spending nearly 10 years in the minors, will be wearing No. 33 as a salute to former Oilers pugilist Marty McSorley. Or Mr. McSorley, as MacIntyre respectfully calls him. He's never actually said hello to McSorley, who played in 206 Oiler outings and enjoyed the fistic part of the game, but he loves him. "He's been a favourite of mine growing up. He played hard and he played tough," said MacIntyre, who hasn't run across McSorley, but has talked to Dave Semenko, the Oilers' first beat cop. "I met Mr. Semenko when I was playing in Hartford (of the American Hockey League, where Semenko was pro scouting) and that was pretty cool," said MacIntyre. "I went right over to him and told him I'd watched him since I was a wee kid. He said, 'Well, you're not so wee anymore.' " Not at six-foot-six and 260 pounds. MacIntyre's a better puncher than a scorer, but he's got a few moves. He sifted one past Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers in practice on Monday on a breakaway drill after the rookie goalie had made a ton of big one-on-one stops on other guys. MacIntyre brought the house down, when he scored inside the far post, although his route to the net was a little wobbly. "I threw my go-go gadget arms out and it happened to go in," he joked. "What is it that Wayne Gretzky used to say, 'A hundred per cent of the shots you don't take, don't go in.' "
