I think Mayers or Hollweg alone are worth the 2nd round pick... Since you been a good trade partner, offered me a fair counter deal... I'm throwing in an xtra D-man/goalie, Pothier might not be ready for the season though... I think he will recover since he don't play an overly physical style... Consider him basically an insurance throw in... When he returns I figure Pothier should see time in your top 4 D-men...
Kings will trade...
E-Jamal Mayers (Toronto), G-Brett Bennett (PHO), and D-Brian Pothier (Caps)*
OR
E-Ryan Hollweg (Tor), G-Brett Bennett (Phoenix), and D-Brian Pothier (Caps)*
For
Your 2nd Round Pick 2008 (12th Overall) and Ron Francis
Mayers should be good for about 22-33 points, about 10-15 fights, and around 100-129 PMs... He gets around 15 minutes of ice time, can chip in about 10-15+ goals a year with about that many assists... He has played 80 games the last two seasons... The one year he didn't he had 15 fights, with 129 PMs in 67 games... A team like Toronto is more geared for fighting & PMs... I can't decide which guy to start Mayers or Hollweg, I'll let you help by taking one in a trade hehe... At 6'2 220 he can fight anybody even though he isn't really a "super heavy weight" or anything... Mayers is always a threat to get a Gordie Howe Hat Trick with his goal/assist/fight production though...
*Pothier had last year end on an injury, that is why I'm including him in the deal... Otherwise I'd want a 2nd round Pick for him alone... Before his injury Pothier had 5 Goals, 14 Points in 38 Games... That put him on pace for about 10+ Goals and 30ish points. He should be good for about 30+ points and 5-10+ Goals a season. The year before last he logged as much as 30 minutes in games... I have him in my top 9 D-men, I just don't really like the Capitals, it makes me think of Dale Hunter's cheap shot.
Ryan Hollweg had 13 fights the year the NHL really cracked down on them with 131 PMs... His role on the Rangers was cut down since Avery was there and Colton Orr... For the Maple Leafs he should be good for around those same numbers... He has played 70 or more games the last 2 years, he seems able to play in the "new NHL" at least... He is pretty young, could be on your team for years, but lacks the point production of Mayers...
Brett Bennett is a good 20 year old prospect Goalie in the Phoenix organization... I hate Phoenix, otherwise I'd probably be trying to get more for him in a trade... I think at worse he can end up as a backup in the NHL, he is at least 2-3 years away from pro hockey though... He has put up some pretty impressive numbers in short stints, I read some good things about him after I already had him too... In 2004-05 Playing for the US National Team U17 in 21 games, he had 1 shut out, a 2.44 GAA and a .936 Save Percentage... In 2005-06 Playing for the US National Team U18 in 5 games, he had a 1.26 GAA and a .960 Save Percentage... In 2006-07 he played 1 game for Boson U, letting up only 1 goal, with a .944 Save Percentage... In 2007-08 he had 3 Shut Outs, with a 2.63 GAA over 31 games at Boston U... He should fit in well on your team as a young goalie with a fair amount of upside.
Tell me which option you want to do, the Mayers deal, or the Hollweg one...
I'll keep this trade open until September 24th at 4:20 PM... I might still do deal after that but not obligated to... I might trade one of them before that if you wait too long though hehe...
